Here at Grass Roots Lawn and Garden, we have installed hundreds of walls in Skagit County. One of the common questions we are asked is “how much does a retaining wall cost?”
It is easy to say “well it depends” because there are so many variables but here are some ranges for different types and sizes of wall projects.
The height of the wall, straight vs curves, type of materials, access to the site, backfill material, and slope play a big role in determining the cost of a retaining wall project.
The two most common types of material are allan block and legacy block. Allan Blocks are 8 inches high and 12 inches wide. They cost approximately $9 per block and require a cap on the top since they are hollow. Legacy Blocks are cheaper concrete blocks that come in flat and rounded face options. Unlike Allan Block, the blocks are solid, without any hollow cavity inside. The cost of the block is under $5 each and makes it a less expensive option compared to Allan Block. Legacy Blocks are 6 inches high and 16 inches wide.
